Cosmic Armchair is the electronic pop duo of Cosmic Jane (vocals/songwriting/production) and Cosmic Ben (production/keyboards) who release beat-heavy synthpop songs with a different view of everyday issues.
The duo released their 5-track debut EP ‘A Different View’ independently in 2009 and quickly followed up with another 5-track EP ‘A Second look’ in 2010.
In 2014, leading European alternative electronic label Alfa Matrix signed the duo, making Cosmic Armchair their first Asian signing. Cosmic Armchair’s first release under Alfa Matrix was the 5-track EP ‘We are Watching’, followed by the EP ‘I Don’t Belong Here’ featuring the popular title track as well as remixes by Singaporean producers and DJs.
After a few years of remixing songs for Alfa Matrix label mates like Mondtraume, Psy’Aviah, Lovelorn Dolls, and Simon Carter, Cosmic Armchair released their first full-length album ‘Contact’ in 2017 with 10 new songs. The following year, the duo released 3 EPs with remixes of songs from the album – ‘Falling’, ‘Valentine’ and ‘Cannonballs’.
In addition to their original songs, the duo have been busy producing covers of music legends like Depeche Mode, The Cure and Front 242, all of which were released in compilations by Alfa Matrix.
In 2021, Cosmic Armchair released a new futurepop song ‘Man or Machine’ which will be on their upcoming album.
Cosmic Armchair’s music has been described as “Trance with a New Wave feel” with influences from synthpop and futurepop.
